Greetings from Person County People Rising in Defense of Ecology (PC PRIDE), a grass roots organization in Person County, NC which was founded in 2005. Our mission is to be a watchful eye for environmental issues and a platform for citizens' concerns.
In the past our organization has worked to reduce waste through the promotion of recycling. We were one of the key players in the creation of the Person County Recycle Center. Our group raised money and placed recycle bins in all of the county schools and gave incentives to the recycle center to encourage citizen participation. Our most important accomplishment was in 2008 when we kept the landfill from expanding. PC PRIDE has held campaign forums to educate voters on important issues during every election year. It is our goal to continue to help move our county forward in the reduction of waste and the sustaining of our resources.
